W: 156 of 1881 was received, I telegraphed to Your Lordship recommending that the vote for 1882 should continue to be expended on condition that the

salary of the Head Master be reduced, as Your Lordship suggests, to $1680, and a proper guarantee got from the students. To this Your Lordship has bien good

enough

I am perfectly

satisfied with the full explanations now given by the Inspector. I see no objection

objection to the form of guarantee proposed; and, on the whole, I feel.___ justified in strongly recommending Your Lordship to finally approve of

the scheme at the reduced scale

of expenditure and with the safeguards suggested.
